Presentations and discussions made on Day One of the conference generally brought out the fact that the world needs the One Health approach to prevent the spread of diseases and disease outbreaks. The conference started with a plenary session chaired by Prof. Ndichu Maingi, the dean faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. It involved four speakers.
